Elegant and complex - this wine feels like the girl you want to fall in love with, who you hope loves you back. The sweet, youthful berry is met with earthiness that is deep, and red, but not quite tar - clay maybe, tobacco notes too, Rose and potpourri... This is a bottle of wine that will twist the neck of a new world 'Apothic' wine drinker right around to ponder what sort of 'dried flower petal turned liquid' you brought to the dinner. Dainty, dignified, and deep. — 7 years ago

Colterris is one of the great producers from the not amazing, but quaintly wonderful Palisade Colorado. Another great example of Petit Verdot single varietal that CO can make. The tannins are grippy, but the fruit balance actually made it drinkable w/o food. I love it. — 7 years ago

This one didn't quite meet my expectations based upon the way it has been built up from what I heard. Nonetheless, this is a solid wine. Color was Garnett, a dark middle but brick at the edge. Nose was warmer and fruitier than I expected. Warm, baked clove, toasted bread, Rose, Sage, mushrooms, raspberries. Tastes surprisingly tart and acidic, cranberry, pomegranate, dried herbaceous, hints of licorice, mushroom. It became more "Pinot-esque" as it drank with the mushroom coming out late. Based on my previous experience with this grape, it was surprisingly tart forward on the tongue, but in the end, it was still three dimensional. — 7 years ago

Very good. The color was a true Ruby throughout. The wine was very berry BlackBerry and raspberry with velvety luscious mouthfeel. Luckily a little Oak was there to save the day. Baking spices, cocoa, leather, tobacco, even acetone. Starburst candy was one of the first things that came to mind as I had this lip-smacking-ly interesting wine. Definitely enjoyed it, save for the price of Entry is a little high, but the winery does have something to be proud of. — 7 years ago

I enjoyed this controversial wine. Medium Acidity, medium+ Tannins. It opened right up with luscious blackberry and sweet plum and backed up by sweeter oak flavors - vanilla, mocha, and toffee. As it breathed the black pepper and bell pepper came out, and longer still saw dried herbs and eucalyptus. The next day it was musky with tobacco and smoke and stronger eucalyptus, but the fruit had quieted down. It was an interesting change of character for not even 24 hours, it had been uncorked at total of <45 minutes, but it still wasn't unpleasant. I would recommend to Tannic lovers as Table wine, where you can taste it as it changes over the evening. — 7 years ago

I'm a huge Game of Thrones fan, so I'm going to try and be extra critical rather than play fanservice. This one was solid. Nose of yellow apple, pineapple, baking spices, lemon meringue, Asian pear, saline, crushed chalk. It tasted of butter and almond served over baked apple pie. Apricot, chalk and honeydew melon behind. Went well with a white sauce pasta. — 7 years ago

Nose was Bell Pepper, jalapeno, white pepper, cantaloupe, pear, peaches, pineapple, minerality - though subdued. Taste was dry white peach, Wet stone, salinity, white pepper and jalapeno. How balanced was this wine? Getting close to setting the bar. This is a phenomenal white. Just a hint of juicy fruit, transitioning into salty salinity and stone, and a complexity - left like a puzzling hint in a scavenger hunt that eventually leads to the next sip, where I'm still standing... Searching. Haunting is an overused adjective, but here it is so apt as to beg forgiveness while usurping it from all other imbibements. — 7 years ago

This one was just fine! The nose was chevre cheese, cut strawberries, gooseberry, unripened peppercorn, gravel, saline. Additional swirling revealed apricot, floral Rose, Floral tea. The Taste was dried strawberry, salted red fruit medley, orange rind, cranberry juice, rain-runoff, lime juice. This was lively but level-headed, with heavy minerality in the back to balance the fruit and citrus and to keep you thirsty. Also, on the other end, it's vibrancy kept me energized rather than feeling like I was just licking a wet limestone. The Empty Glass smelled strongly of peppery creamy cheese. — 7 years ago

I know it Castle Rock, but this one was really good. The nose was clean and subtle. Honeysuckle, Violet, Rose, pear, Citrus, celery. Taste a full richness of honeyed strawberries and cream, apple, lemon, honeydew melon, with a bit of salt. It was pretty, it smelled of fragile garden flowers but it tasted like breakfast fruit. There is a zesty satisfying finish that makes it balanced and delicious. — 7 years ago
