One of my all time favourites.

Last one of 2021 left in the collection. Fell in love with this wine in 2022 during a dinner at La Colombe. Great characterful wine from the west coast. You can taste it’s origin in the briny/kelp like taste with a bit of stone fruit, chamomille/jasmine and a touch of fennel/anise. Always a bit lower on the alcoho and acidityl, which makes it a great early drinker. Can’t wait to try the 2024 with 99 points.

Another Sakkie masterpiece, unfortunately the yield 2024 did not succeed due to flooding of the vineyard. Yes, flooding!

This 2023 is great. A slight unusual variety Colombard, which is often used for fortified Brandy but has a great character itself. On the nose: quince, pear, some yellow fruit and flowers and a slight hint of oyster. This wine is focused with great acidity, mouthfeel and hints of that quince, slight floral notes and a saline finish which reminds me of oyster shells. Great wine, especially with grilled prawns!

2024 - Found this little gem on a wine list of new and local Italian restaurant Lucia (Rotterdam). After visiting Sicily last year, I was under the impression that Etna Bianco was more perfumed than my liking. However, this amazing blend had none of this. Pure and focused, with great acidity and minerality. Hints of stone fruit, lemon peel and oil and that slight touch of flint. Splendid wine! — 3 months ago

Old picture I found. This is an interesting wine I tasted at the Kalmoesfontein farm of Adi Badenhorst himself during one of his famous pizza nights. It’s a blend of white and red grapes, and what an interesting combination it makes. On the nose you’re hit with a intense smell of strawberry/raspberry almost candy like. The mouthfeel is also very interesting as it has both that white wine freshness and acidity while at the same time tannins from the red. Again, also that fruity taste with a decent middle-long finish. It did go great with pizza but would love to try this with anything Braai. I think it can be amazing to pair with something a bit more fatty since it will cut down through it with ease because of the acidity. — 8 months ago
