Review number 3200 is an old favorite. I often write about how wine is a complement to a greater experience, not the experience itself. This wine, to me, illustrates that point perfectly. Tonight, I pair it with cooking dinner for my family, and it reminds me of my incredible visit to Smith-Madrone winery this past summer. A wine made beautifully by men who are both artists and pioneers, this full-bodied cab boasts a complex flavor profile and wants for nothing, aside from to be shared with friends. Varozza consistently makes what I consider to be some of the very best red wines anywhere in Napa. The 2012 BloodLine, a blend of 66% Cab Sauv and 33% Petite Sirah, all estate, is truly an accomplishment on the respective parts of grower Jack Varozza and winemaker Kristy Melton. Big and bold yet elegant and easy-drinking, this wine, in my mind, represents the very best of red blends from the storied Napa Valley. Cheers! — 8 years ago
The perfect pairing. Welcome to the world, my precious little girl! — 8 years ago
Truly a beautiful Cabernet, Rich Salvestrin is an artist of the 1st degree. Sourced from fruit from the historic Dr. Crane vineyard near Saint Helena, this one will easily lay down for decades, though it is drinking well now. Space bold, full-bodied, rich, supple, and well structured, it lacks for nothing. Beautiful wine! — 8 years ago
An absolute treat, this well-aged Napa Cab from winemaker John Emmerich wowed me with lush dark fruit, leather, and forest floor. Delightful! Cheers! — 8 years ago
