Don’t drink anytime soon. Closed down, not showing much. Excellent balance and potential, but needs time. — 4 years ago

Young and intense. Needs time. If you want to drink it now, decant. Was better 2nd and 3rd day after opening. Has potential for higher score with age. — 7 years ago

A very difficult vintage for Chablis. Rain + heat wave = dilution and botrytis. 2013s affected by this don’t have as much typical Chablis character. This bottle flashed a touch of tropical fruit upon opening but that faded away. Subtle, linear, high acidity. The minerality is definitely there but not pronounced. Nothing was pronounced about this wine. You can tell it is very well made and high quality but it is not “showy.” Be careful what you pair this with because with its delicate flavors it could get overpowered easily. The wine seemed like it was too young and needed time to develop. Perhaps 3-5 years before trying another. However, due to the subtle nature, you could argue that the wine is delicate and might not age well. I don’t have enough experience to say for sure but if I had another bottle, I’d put it down for a while before drinking next. — 7 years ago

2019 disg. I’m very happy with this wine! Elegant, mineral, lithe, vertical. No/low dosage and it works very well. The mineral character comes across more broad, a little earthy, and has a surprising rich soft creaminess that I didn’t expect, even though this is still a lighter, precise, vertical style. It’s not especially lean and austere like some low dosage wines can be. — 5 years ago

Lovely, incredible value. Great affordable alternative to the Burgundies I love but can’t afford. Wonderful pronounced aromatics and good structure that will allow this to develop well for 5-10 years. Very enjoyable now. I like this vintage much more than the last I had. Definitely not “extracted and toasted” in my opinion. — 7 years ago

Loads of showy, aromatic, pretty, and mostly red fruit. Has stern mineral backbone hidden underneath. Started drinking nicely after about 2 hours. I would not open another bottle anytime soon. I’d say bury it in the cellar for at least 5 years before trying but it may not hit its stride until 10+ years. There’s so much here, I think this’ll be fantastic once developed. 93 pts indicating the quality of the wine and its potential, not this drinking experience. — 7 years ago

Graceful, precise, elegant, soft mineral character that carries through. Balanced very nicely for drinking now, but probably even better in 1-2 years. High quality Bourgogne. Worth buying in the $30-40 range for sure. — 5 years ago

Nice richness and perfectly ripe - in no way heavy or overdone. Light on its feet. Lovely texture and long finish. Beautiful and very present mineral expression. Lovely and gentle, not austere. Flavor came more from mineral character than fruit. Well integrated oxidative notes. Wonderful Champagne! — 7 years ago

Incredible wine. Huge but not heavy. Dense, brooding, hibernating. Not super showy at this stage but still gives an incredible experience if you give it time and listen. 2013 is a great vintage for Batard as it is more of a lean, acid driven style which balances the big, rich, sometimes heavy (depending on producer and year) character. Great freshness and mineral character. Perfect balance. Well worth the money if you can afford it. Although it was fantastic at age 5, I can only imagine how amazing it’ll be in a decade or two. — 7 years ago

Lovely wine but not showing a lot today. Needs at least an hour to open. Elegant Pinot character with a touch of pretty oak in the background. A cooler style of 2015 Burgundy, which I like. Good freshness and balanced structure. Put this away in the cellar for at least 3-4 more years before trying. I don’t think it’s worth it to open anytime soon. Will be wonderful with age. — 7 years ago
