2003 was a hot year, but somehow the syrah has a full meaty quality, generous fruit, some acidity and no raisin/overripe issues.
With lamb shank, it was just right.
Drink now and for another 4-6 years.
I also had this once with a South African dish with spices and raisins, the name escapes me, and it was fantastic then also. — 8 years ago
Like a bowl full of meaty fruity olives. — 8 years ago
Not bad, certainly for the price. Your company will be the determining factor on how much you care for this wine. I had it with a great date, so I loved it. — 8 years ago
Having my last bottle. A beautiful glossy texture, and I may not have tasted a more pure expression of raspberry in a wine ever. The oak is apparent, but after initial attack, melds into the wine to be a player in the symphony rather than a lead. I'm a little disappointed I'm not sharing it with a friend and most certainly disappointed it's my last bottle. There are more profound wines, but the prove and quality ratio will make this a memorable wine. — 8 years ago
Pretty much as good as Beaujolais gets for me. Plenty of structure in this vintage, while still full of that gamay fruit. Now or long (ish) haul. — 8 years ago
"Holy crap that's good " is exactly what I said to myself after one sip. — 8 years ago
Well, just what it should be. Unmistakable Chianti flavours. A little bit of grip, but ready to drink. Plenty of fruit as well. Not long term, maybe 6 years if you're pushing it or a fan of nothing but secondary fruit. Really good for under $22. — 8 years ago

Should have opened this 15 years ago when my palate still appreciated hedonism and hype. Undoubtedly Barossa and would not be confused with Rhône or even California. 14.5 listed alcohol is woefully short. — 7 years ago
