This took a good hour to open, but was really great once it was ready. Plenty of dark fruit left 11 years after harvest - blackberry, plum. Notes of leather, rosemary. Wonderful structure still intact — 8 days ago

I really can’t stand “over-oaked” whiskies and this is a first rate offender in that regard. Nothing remains of the base spirit. It’s just an absolute overload of vanilla, caramel and other charred wood flavors. Completely unbalanced, could even work as a dessert drink. — a year ago

Smells of dark cherries, Coke, vanilla, some apple pie, cinnamon. The initial taste is really great - loads of rich, fruity (prunes) and vanilla sweetness, offset with an interesting tannin. It has a medium finish where the oak becomes more pronounced. Best brandy I’ve had in a while. — a year ago

This was fine - kind of a weak sauce version of the Loch Gorm. The smoke was lighter and the texture was thinner than the LG. I’m finding that I prefer my sherry-heavy whiskies to really hold themselves on my tongue and this just didn’t. No off flavors or anything. I’d probably buy it again, especially a bigger bottle so I could taste it as it develops. — 7 months ago

Nothing super complex but wonderfully floral and sweet with enough structure to keep it balanced. Wonderful summer whisky — a year ago

Such a disappointment. The amazing Arran 10-year reminded me so pleasantly of Sauternes wines that I was sure the combination of the two would be fantastic. I get virtually zero Sauternes influence at all. It tastes like a younger, weaker version of the flagship 10-year old. Feel free to skip. — a year ago

A very specialized whisky - a heavy peated sherry BOMB. Most distilleries don’t bother with this combo because it is thought the two treatments don’t play well together and kind of cancel each other out. I see their point - this wouldn’t be my pick for a great peated or great sherried whisky. However, when i get the craving for that odd combo, nothing else will do. It’s confusing, but delicious. The nose is a great indicator of what you’re getting - smoke first, followed by a wave of dark, stewed fruits. The palate is the same, but with a brown sugar sweetness on the finish. Fascinating dram. — 8 months ago

This is a fine tequila, I just don’t understand how it is so damn expensive. It has a nice clean taste - raw and cooked agave, some citrus, grass - but it is very mild. Not what I would call a unique or special experience, which it should be at this price point. — a year ago

I don’t know what to rate this damn whisky. I think it would be fantastic in the summer if I were in the right mood, but it’s divisive. The nose is really light - some vanilla, lumber and lemon. The palate is the same flavors but much more intense. It has a really strong straw taste with some sharp acidity. Really hard to believe this is a 12 year old. I’d definitely try again. — a year ago
