Happy sipping, during and after dinner, for Bourbon and Zin fans, because their flavors compliment one another: black pepper spice, blackberry, and vanilla--wonderful with Asian-barbecued beef short ribs, AND rustic cherry tart with toasted almonds and whipped cream (with splash of vanilla) — 7 years ago

Favorite Shiraz these days because I like some spice, like black pepper (present, but not overpowering). Nice with grilled dinner, and also Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches. — 7 years ago

La Chatillonne Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2009
Earthen, tilled, mild pepper taste after, perfume-scent, antique red
One of the Oldest producers in the Rhône Valley, and a classic example of Côte Rotie! They used a higher amount than I usually see of Viognier in the blend, but I'm sure for a good reason - co-fermented with 85% Syrah, and 15% Viognier, compared to the average of 5% (producers are allowed 20%).
9 years old and continuing to develop beautifully.
👀 - brick red color, with a garnet core and medium stain to the glass, and medium tears. Showing its development in its color, but still has great vibrant color.
👃- stunning aromas! Dried lavender, dark espresso bean, crushed peppercorn mix, pipe tobacco, dried rosemary and thyme, charred meat (almost the combination of aromas from a good rub for brisket that's smoking on the grill), casis liqueur, bing cherry.
👅- perfect balance of acid, medium plus tannins, and medium body with an elegant texture to the palate. Black plum, red apple skin, black pepper, dried herb, mocha (very subtle and not a touch of sweet), leather
This wine is excellent and will see many more years of age. Truly a great example of a single vineyard wine from one of the greatest regions from France.
