Working primarily in Spain since the mid-70s.
1979. Cellar memento from our earliest days in Spain. Elegant cedar nose with notable Cabernet influence. Firm on palate, softening and lengthening with air. Argues for the supremacy of Valbuena vs. Unico with time. — 10 years ago
A legend holding its own, without doubt offers a high note that sets it apart from other great Toro Albala vintages. — 10 years ago

An early vintage from Josep Grau, insider pick as best Catalan winemaker. Powerful yet fresh, long and complete. Superb at 10 years. — 10 years ago
1986 Crianza returned for leaking cork in 1989. Good test of cellar. Low shoulder, cork barely attached to glass. Wine retained firm structure and was thoroughly enjoyable despite a bit of oxidation on the nose. Rating for pure audacity. — 10 years ago

Another cellar test. From the earliest international shipments of Alejandro Fernandez. Bottle purchased at retail in bad condition under hot lights, standing up, leaking. 27 years in cellar, cork intact, wine clear and transparent, fruit fresh and elegant. Taught and long. Rating without qualification (but look forward to trying a good bottle!) — 10 years ago
