Extremely good wine even when first opened. After an hour of breathing, it complimented beef tenderloin perfectly — 4 years ago
This has long been a favorite chard; however, I was a bit underwhelmed by this vintage. I am am a fan of buttery chards with great mouth feel. This vintage is definitely on the lighter side with more bright citrus notes — 4 years ago
Deep, lush, and rich. Amazing that this wine continues to drink exceedingly well.

Anything from Howell Mountain is good, Robert Craig makes it great. I am not really a Zin fan, prefer cabs, but this Zin had great body and intensity. I would highly recommend. — 3 years ago
This was a very good bottle of wine that improved through the meal as it had more time to breathe; however, I am not sure that I could have identified this as a Zin if I was tasting blind. No pepper notes at all. — 4 years ago
82 vintage still holding its own. Fruit is long gone, but still very smooth and all the qualities of a Margaux. Personally, my tastes have changed in the past 50 years…I would much prefer a bold and intense Howell Mountain cab to the subtleties of a good Bordeaux. — 3 years ago
I was absolutely blown away by this wine on my birthday 25 May 2021. There are many excellent descriptions of this wine here on Delectable, but the fruit is still there and marvelous. I wish I had much more. It is much better than when it was released. — 4 years ago
This wine is a recent find, but I love it.....so much rich dark fruit....needs a lot of breathing time to really mellow out, but pairs wonderfully with porterhouse. — 4 years ago

My last 2007 Howell Mountain which I still contend was the best vintage from the best Napa appellation ever. I have to admit that I have was somewhat skeptical that this one would have stood the test of time; however, I was amazingly surprised. There was plenty of rich dark fruit. Very little tannins remaining, but extreme lush mouth feel with long lasting finish. I only wish I had more. — a year ago
