Nice! Viva the small but merry band of Colares hipsters! Add the vintage, dude (methinks it is either 2006 or ‘09). Last time drunk was with you@Owen Mazon

One of the rare, growingly extinct wine regions in the world-a coastal area near Lisbon, 50 acres left- that’s it. Ramisco is a red varietal, High acid, low alcohol- only older vintages released. Quinta de Foz de Arouce

Vinho Regional Beiras Red Blend 2012

Interesting red blend that features the Baga (85%) grape. Blended with Touriga National (15%). Very dark color but lighter in body than I would have expected. Bright and jammy red fruit aromas and flavors with hints of prunes and dark chocolate. Solid acidity and very long finish. Moderate finish and tannins. In a very good place right now. Thanks for sharing and insisting we open this one, Ron B! — 5 years ago

Manuel José Colares

Casta Ramisco 1997

Don’t know if I settled down the third time around or the wine did, but a more focused experience this time. Who knows, maybe three times a charm. An ethereal light to medium body, all balsamic, mushroom notes & wild black currants. — 6 years ago

Tad unctuous, oily, grassy, lemons and limes.

Better after a few minutes and with food.

Pale lemon with aromas of citrus and tropical fruit with herb floral notes. On the palate flavors of grapefruit, green apple and pear fruit with some grassy tones, lively acidity. Medium+ finish ending with fruit, earthy herbs, floral, grassy and mineral notes. — 4 years ago

Excellent. Le balsamique m’est venu en première gorgée. Ensuite fruits mûre, prune, légèrement tabac. Très enveloppant, moyen acide. Excellent avec steak. SAQ $19 — 5 years ago

Herdade do Mouchão

Mouchão Vinho Regional Alicante Bouschet 2011

Rich, ripe red and black fruit turning baked and dried, lots of musky smoke and mild meatiness. Red earth. Tannins resolved. Acid moderate. Yummy and distinctive. As it warmed up it relaxed in a nice way. — 5 years ago

Bons Ventos Vinho Regional Lisboa Red Blend 2014

Absolutely incredible value for money. VERY fruit forward, with “Touriga Nacional” in the front of the queue, if you don’t like port or fruity wines, stay away from this one, but for an amazingly drinkable daily “Table Wine” at around AU$ 10.00 a bottle? This is a winner on every level.

Reserva Vinho Regional Lisboa Red Blend

Absolutely awesome on the nose - you’ll enjoy swirling this to capture the aroma time and again. Mature, ripe red fruit and a naturally jammy mouth feel sets up a very nice glass. Slightly tart finish - pair with a nice cheese and enjoy! — 7 years ago
