This is a super star wine. I am blown away. Nose is super pure strawberry like young Giacosa. Insane and vivid spices. Unreal earthiness and minerality. Like a loamy character. Wow. So many roses. Just insane. So so stunning. Tree bark but sweet? 9.7 nose? I think so. It’s so deep, layered and just ethereal. The strawberry is just so insane and detailed. Palate is gorgeous and loaded with sweet fruit and so much sap. Fierce tannins and an incredible finish that doesn’t quit. So balanced and super pure. Killer inner mouth aromas. Unreal fruit, energy and structure but also lithe and elegant. This is also unapologetically old school. This is like is Burlotto made Carema. Really spectacular creaminess as well with just incredible energy and length. This is a baby but will age 30+ years and needs maybe 10. The length is just insane. Let’s see what air does. 9.5 for now but with room for improvement. This has crazy crazy acidity and freshness but is buffered by amazing fruit.

This improved for 3 days. Fruit got more concentrated and ethereal. So juicy and complex and amazing saturation and length. If Arpepe and Rocche de Bar ari collaborated in Carema is what this wine is like. 9.5 to 9.6 over 3 days. — 3 years ago

Last winery on day two in Sonoma was Troika Wines with Jeff, Noel and Ari. Last wine was their Mount Veeder Merlot.

Deep ruby red. Lush nose with cinnamon, violets, dark berries, jasmine and a little bit of bramble too. Medium tannins (6.5/10) and a medium plus body. A bit earthy on the palate with some dark plums, blackberries and sweet spices. Dry medium plus to long finish. Drink till 2024. (91+)

Last winery on day two in Sonoma was Troika Wines with Jeff, Noel and Ari. Next up was their insanely dark Rose from the Split Rock Ranch in Mendocino County made up of 100% Grenache and fermented in neutral French oak barrels.

Deep magenta pink, almost a ruby red in appearance. Lush nose with notes of pomegranate, strawberries, under-ripe cherries and granite. Medium acidity (6/10) and medium plus body. A touch of sweetness on the palate with some iron, cherries, and watermelon. Medium plus to long finish. Drink till 2021.

@Delectable Wine this is the Troika Berlin Vineyard Pinot Noir.

Last winery on day two in Sonoma was Troika Wines with Jeff, Noel and Ari. Next up is a new bottling made up of Pinot Noir from the Berlin Vineyard in Bennett Valley. Aged in 75% new French oak.

Medium garnet red with ruby hues. Lots of floral notes on the nose with some strawberries and a little bit of minerality. Medium acidity (6/10) and medium bodied. Fresh palate with the acidity carrying through with layers of strawberries, bark, roses and some lighter white flowers. Medium plus to long finish. Will develop nicely with a few more years in bottle. Drink till 2024.

Clear lemon yellow with a slight greenish hue. Lots of white peaches, some apricot, honeysuckle and gravel on the nose. Medium acidity (6.5/10) and light plus body. Fresh palate with a touch of sweetness and lots of stone fruits and a slightly creamy mouthfeel. Medium plus to long finish. Drink till 2022.

Completely awesome; one of the best wines we’ve had in the last year or two. Hits the funky carignan flavors that made us fall in love with natural wine in the first place—but the chardonnay blending takes it to a different, lighter and surprising territory. Drank at the bar at Ops, and then a bottle at the dinnertable, with Ari, Evan and Diana (who had just arrived via Revel scooter, “Love Island” Britishisms in tow). Light greenish yellow in appearance. Fresh nose with notes of lychee, melon some oak and stone fruits. Medium acidity (6/10) with a light plus to medium body. Fresh and crisp on the palate with a touch of sweetness. Notes of white peaches, apricot, mild nuttiness, pineapple and a touch of minerality. Medium plus to long finish. Drink till 2022.
