Tasted twice. “Ruit Hora” is a line of poetry from the Odi Barbare collection of poems by Giosue Carducci and translates to “The Hour Hastens.” A blend of 65% Merlot, 25% Cab Sauv, 5% Petit Verdot & 5% Syrah. Aromas of dark fruits and pleasant noticeable spice. On the palate blackberry and sweet cherry, cacao and vanilla flavors. Nicely balanced, soft tannins, opened quickly, lingering ending with fruit and gentle smoky oak. Very Nice! — 7 years ago

Barbare 2007 vintage. 100pct Syrah. From Jay. Dark inky purple colour with rich ruby edges. Espresso coffee beans, cinnamon on the nose mixed with dark forest fruits. Oak and rich jammy black cherries. Lovely on the nose. Elegant consistency on the palate. This is a wine with great finesse but not lacking in power. Initially fruit forward on the front palate with a well endowed and lush mid palate. Very well integrated tannins with structure. Finish is smooth and long. Best wine of the trip with good aging potential. Fabulous effort. Drink 2016 to 2025. 93/100
