Essentia Alba Nebbiolo Blend 2010
80% Nebbiolo, 15% Barbera, 5% Merlot blend, with grapes slightly dried on the vines.
Due to this style, it shows loads of baked lush fruit, all-spice, dried herbs, and purple flowers. Chalky, but developed tannins, medium plus acidity, and a very brick red color... I really enjoyed drinking this wine, but I honestly can't tell if it is on its last legs or if the grapes being dried on the vine make it seem in its plateau. I'd have to try a bottle again in a few years of the same vintage.

Part of Nebbiolo's deception is its ruby red color. The flavors or tar, violets, and red fruit are unmistakable. When some of your pals are switching to party whites a man must keep pounding the Reds. This is a great wine at almost QPR levels. A special bottling of the producer Villadoria, 100%-owner of the "Cappallotto" MGA in Serralunga d'Alba (next to "Baudana" & "Meriame") and home of the famiglia Lanzavecchia. "Paradiso" is the official single vineyard here (best exposition, old vines). The vinifciation is traditional in botti grandi. A very beautiful, succulent entry level Serralunga Barolo, showing quite youthful in 2010, as expected. Dark fruit, menthol, lavender and a bit of leather are the prime flavors. High tannins, that are well integrated. Pretty good structure and length. — 8 years ago

100% Chardonnay from the Langhe, a region whose identity is far more closely tied to Nebbiolo and its great reds. Despite the somewhat unexpected origin, Parole is indeed Chardonnay rather than a blend, something worth confirming because its flavor profile can genuinely make you wonder what else might be in the glass.
Aromas & Flavors
Ripe peach, yellow apple, pear, citrus peel, and delicate floral notes lead the profile. The emphasis is on ripe yellow and stone fruits rather than the familiar lemon-and-oak vocabulary of many Chardonnays.
Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied, clean, and refreshing, with moderate acidity and a gentle roundness through the mid-palate. The fruit carries nicely into a composed, clean finish without excessive richness.
Food Pairings
Grilled white fish, scallops, seafood pasta, roasted chicken, vegetable risotto, or aged cheeses. Its moderate acidity and fruit-driven personality make it quite flexible.
Verdict
A Chardonnay that deliberately feels outside the usual Chardonnay box. The ripe stone fruit, moderate acidity, and distinctive Piedmontese personality make it less immediately recognizable, which is precisely what makes it such an enjoyable exploratory white.

This one made me stop for a moment because it genuinely tasted as though another grape might be hiding in the blend. It isn’t, this is Chardonnay expressing itself in a very different place. Ripe stone fruit, moderate acidity, freshness, and a clean finish make it a terrific exploratory white and a reminder of just how flexible Chardonnay can be. — 11 days ago
