Blend of Grenache, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Light ruby/garnet color with a slight brick rim. Aromas of minerals, dried blueberries, purple flowers and oak. Blue/blackberry and black currant fruit on the palate along with notes of dark chocolate, tar and black licorice. Pleasant mineral note on the medium length finish. Though its power has faded over time, this unfiltered wine shows nice balance and a smooth texture. A bit past its prime but still drinkable and interesting. Incredibly fresh tasting for a wine of this age. Interesting Priorat blend of Carinena (Carignan-70%), Merlot (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%). Complex aromas of fresh herbs, forest floor, wet slate and ripe black fruits. Plum and prune flavors lead the palate with hints of blackberry and dark chocolate. Chewy tannins, harmonious and nicely balanced. Savory, plush and tasting way younger than its age. Brilliant! Thanking Kevin Z. for sharing this bottle. — 10 months ago
