2016 vintage. Nicolas Thienpont is a great winemaker at 3 Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classés Beauséjour HDL, Pavie Macquin and Larcis Ducasse +Grand Cru Classé Berliquet + a few estates in the Côtes de Bordeaux). This Côtes de Francs is probably the most humble in his stable, but it's a very serious wine. A blend of 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc, it features a dark red colour colour with a purplish rim, a complex nose with blueberry and strawberry fruit, flowers and cocoa powder. The fruit is packed in a tight ripe tannic structure, with balancing acidity and serious length. I would recommend to give this overachiever a few years of bottle age. Abv. 14,5%. Great value at 12,90 euro. — 5 years ago
Very potent nose, red fruits, spices, little honey, very well balanced, great palate. Very good wine. — 12 years ago

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!
Deep ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Red fruits on the nose with spices and dark chocolate notes.
Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with black plums, currants, light oak, coffee, herbs, chocolates, licorice, spices, light earth, black pepper, tobacco leaf and black tea.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This is very tasty Merlot from Saint Emilion. Complex and rich. Nicely balanced, fruit forward and elegant.
This 5 year old Merlot based blend is still young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, but already drinking nicely.
Interesting enough to drink as a sipping wine, or with food.
A blend of 69% Merlot and 31% Cabernet Franc. Aged in (50% New) French Oak barrels for 16 months.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
91 points.
