Quintessential red burgundy. Juicy fruit but elegant. Bought from patriarche — a year ago
Solid feminine Pinot Noir. Straightforward if not particularly interesting. Nice cherry start and smooth if not long finish. The flavors do not particularly stand out, but there are no off flavors or flaws. — 4 years ago
Très léger. Un vrai bonbon. — 10 years ago
Delectable - this is the Jane Eyre Hospices de Beaune Premier Cru. Not offered in your choices. Red and black cherries. Quite dense and flavoursome showing the ripe 2015 vintage. A juicy dark fruited Pinot Noir. Could easily be mistaken for a new World Pinot. Elevage by Jane Eyre an Australian winemaker who works in both Burgundy and Victoria. This is a good wine but not worth the $195 I paid. A wine that makes you wonder if Burgundy is worth double what you would pay for an equally as good a wine in Australia. One of JANE’s creations from the Mornington Peninsula is just as good. — 2 years ago
Every year since 2010 the blokes at Prince Wine Store have purchased a barrel from the Hospice Auction with the help of Benjamin Leroux and Aussie, Jane Eyre (who raises the wine for Prince). Dark crimson with purple tinges. Ripe rich red fruits. Nose a little closed because of its youth. So much density and concentration from this warm year. Smells and tastes new world. Has a tremendous future. In that latency you can see that spicy character will come through. These 2015 Red Burgundies will need at least 10 years before they start to behave like Burgundies rather than New World Pinots. Might try the next one around 2023. — 6 years ago

Hospices de Beaune Cuvées are aged (raised) by various Negociants, in this case the highly accredited Australian winemaker, Jane Eyre. The nose is a little closed initially. Might have been opened a little early in its drinking window. The palate shows ripe red fruits (cherry) reflecting the warmer vintage. See previous Delectable note. The following night a peppery note. Luckily I have 3 left. Hopefully this will open up in the next few years and gain some complexity. — a month ago
