Rhône Village blend of Grenache (60%), Syrah (20%), Cinsault (15%) and Mourvèdre (5%). Bright garnet color. Aromas of ripe berries, black pepper and roasted meat. Same ripe berries on the pallet with notes of orange zest, black tea and black pepper. A good deal of minerality on the long (but a bit hot) finish. Full bodied and bold. Wonderful step up from basic Côtes-du-Rhône with great balance of minerality, black fruit and a hint of wild herbs. Elegant on the palate - it's that joyous find, a wine that is reasonably priced and fun to drink. With modest tannins its also food friendly — 7 years ago
