Kir Yianni 'Kali Riza' 2010, 13% alcohol. 100% Xinomavro from 60 year old vines in Amyndeo, Florina, which is the coolest vine growing area in Greece. Bright red fruit, distinctive earthiness. Light to medium bodied, silky tannins, good acidity, elegant with a smooth finish. Not overly complex, but with a built in delicious factor. — 11 years ago

Don't know Xinomavro at all. Not sure if that's the grape showing through or if it was the Cab or the Merlot. Nice and light(er) though. — 10 years ago
I have only had Greek wines one time, at a conference reception, so essentially, this is my first, focused tasting of a Greek wine, the 2015 Alpha Estate Malagouzia Turtles Vineyard, PGI Florina (Macedonia, Greece), obviously my first malagouzia as well. My first impression of this wine is that it is a bit reminiscent of torrontés. In the glass, it displays a pale, greenish-yellow hue. Honeysuckle and stone fruit aromatics leap from the glass. Mouthwatering grapefruit, green apple, and melon flavors intertwine with a sur lie induced, textured mouthfeel. The result is a wine that's both juicy and substantial, with tangy acidity and a finish that goes on and on. (sample) — 8 years ago

Amyndeon white, PGI Florina Northern Greece. 100% Assyrtiko. Amazing notes of citrus and mineral grapefruit but not too acid and rather smooth with an amazing persistence. Really really good. — 5 years ago
