Amazing! Happy New Year! — 3 years ago
Very sweet and flavorful. Berries, but maybe a little chocolate. Raspberry aftertaste. Really enjoyed this. — 6 years ago
My first Sagrantino. Great grip and fruit. — 7 years ago
Deep dark berry port on the nose, brown tint implying age, pretty delicious and elegant, but maybe a bit too much alcohol. — 7 years ago

The Tenuta di Castellaro - Nero Ossidiana originates from a very beautiful spot in the world - the island of Lipari, one of the seven Aeolian Islands, near Sicily. This is a warm wine, full of red fruits, cherry, cassis, blackberry and some spice. Made of a blend of 60% Corinto, 25% Nero D’Avola, and 15% local grapes. It is very smooth and velvety, with a long after taste, as the slowly setting sun leaving a purple orange shine over the gentle waves. — 5 years ago
Italy. White. Sicilian.
100% Malvasia grapes. This was a really interesting one; got hints of sea salt more than fruit (maybe some lemon and nectarine), straw color, thick compared to most Italian white blend/moscato/Pinot Grigio...more like a chardonnay consistency but no buttery taste - tasted much lighter. Think of cooking with butter vs olive oil - this is more like olive oil. Went wonderfully with seafood (spaghetti alle vongole)...used it to cook the dish too. Don’t really taste the alcohol (13.5% alc. by vol.). I really liked it and it was unlike other whites I’ve tried. More expensive than other whites I’ve tried but I definitely would get it again as I felt it had more depth. Not a sparkling or wine with “zing”. — 6 years ago
