Dark red color almost nuances of purple. On the nose the compexity of this wine hits you. Pepper notes, cherries, black fruits, vanilla. Really smooth a pleasant smell. On the palate velvety notes of cherry perfectly mixed with vanilla and an subtle finish of grapefruit. The tannins are quite strong but the big body of this wine rounds everything up. Note this is the Tenute Orestiadi Nerello Mascalese, I think Nero d’Avola….another tasty Sicilian red - was served by the glass at the local trattoria - very versatile, minimal earth, maybe a touch acidic but very soft on the palate (and cheap!) — 2 years ago
