Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of dinner. The 2021 pours a deep garnet color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of black cherry, espresso, black tea, dried herbs and gentle warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Drink now with patience but, to my palate, I think this will be better with a few more years in the cellar so the oak can better integrate. This is built to last well past 2041. — 6 months ago

Torre Zambia Pecorino “Poggio Salaia” 2021: Clean. Bright. Balanced. Notes of lemon, orange & lychee. Soft minerality & a crisp, dry finish. Made with 100% Pecorino grapes from the Abruzzo region of Italy, this is the perfect wine for enjoying as an aperitivo or with a meal. For me, this would pair perfectly with fish, cheeses or white meats! Let’s not forget to mention: It’s sustainable. It’s organic. It’s vegan. Cheers🍷 — 4 years ago
October 2, 2021. Dinner w/Jack D, Dean, Bridget. Wine no. 1. I have had this several times — first at Allegrini’s Villa delle Torre. 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. Such a good wine! Dark fruit, smooth balanced tannins. I could drink this all night. — 5 years ago

Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2021
Torre d’Orti – Veneto, Italy 🇮🇹
Overview
A traditional Amarone crafted primarily from Corvina (with Corvinone), Rondinella, and a small percentage of Molinara, produced using the appassimento method (partially dried grapes). 17% ABV. A powerful expression leaning rustic rather than refined in this vintage.
Aromas & Flavors
Dried cherry, baked plum, subtle fig, light cocoa, faint walnut and restrained raisin tones. Tertiary notes present but not deeply layered.
Mouthfeel
Full-bodied and structured with elevated alcohol. Firm tannins and a slightly edgy texture. Lacks the seamless velvety integration expected from more polished Amarone examples.
Food Pairings
Braised meats, aged cheeses, wild boar ragù, mushroom-based dishes.
Verdict
Technically correct and gastronomic, but did not fully deliver the plush refinement and layered complexity often associated with top-tier Amarone. Better at the table than as a contemplative standalone pour.

Corvina is the aromatic backbone of Amarone, responsible for cherry and spice notes, while Rondinella contributes color and structure. Balance during drying is crucial, integration is everything. — 4 months ago

Really nice Amarone! 2013. All the classic flavors. Wonderfully paired with Japanese curry. — 4 years ago
Smells like a muddled shaker of mosaic hops, Douglas fir, marijuana stems, and orange blossom honey. Earthy and floral and plenty of citrus too.
Allow it to warm to see full character and flavor. Flavors of grapefruit IPA become honeyed tangerine and jasmine. — 5 years ago
