Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1996

1996 vintage. Multiple (6) bottles tasted 1hr, 2hrs and 4 hrs after decanting. Sleek and linear. Not gratuitous and giving just yet but close. Needs another 5-7 years to absolutely ingratiate itself into your psyche/cellar/glass if you're a robot/AI or actually have patience. Sexy af. Decided and dedicated temptress throwing out just enough historic, Lalande-styled love currently to seduce completely if your patience is lacking. Total siren song. Fill those ears with wax and watch your bank account. Beware. This just may be the longest lived Lalande vintage I've ever hit. Discounted the 1996 vintage big-time initially but deffy mistaken with this specific/particular wine. Hard to locate but if you do, it's a go to. Been trying to source since tasting this vintage, without luck, since this visit. Number one on the Most Wanted BDX list currently. Pray for me. 4.4.23. — 2 years ago

Rocking. Electric. So fine. Honey, tangelo, Orange marmalade, tangy citrus, earthy and mineral scents and just so so deep. Smells like a GG. Palate is laser focused like you won’t believe with plenty of mineral that offers a psyche out from the nose. Juicy and complex. Really serene and balanced with such purity. Like a pillow. Really refined. Long complex finish and in such a great space now. Tangy with lovely acids. — 6 years ago

Domaine Hubert Lignier

Grand Cru Echezeaux Pinot Noir 2009

Good, but not the Romain-era wines I've fallen in love with, nor the recent vintages that have been very convincing. To be frank, this is the first wine I've tasted from the supposedly "troubled" years at Hubert Lignier. It kind of makes me think of KP sharing his thoughts about how you can always taste a winemaker's, or in this case family's psyche in a wine. Having said that, my issue with this wine's probably most attributed to the fact that it was made of purchased grapes from a relatively weaker Grand Cru, in a warmer vintage. Earthy and dark-fruited nose, which follows through into the densely-packed palate. It's not very giving at the moment, and never really developed with air. Finishes long, soft, and lush, with some spice and cocoa notes. I wouldn't call it flabby, but it's certainly lacking an expected elegance. — 4 years ago

Rheinhessen Pinot Noir Rosé 2015

when I first set up my fish tank it was fantasia and now it’s a cesspool. it needs constant learning, adjusting, tinkering. It’s becoming an unwelcome reflection of my psyche and the work that needs to be done. But I’m not sure if I have the time for both. — 4 years ago

Jacob's Creek/Orlando

Double Barrel Shiraz

This totally encapsulates my feelings today, my sadness over the loss of a great icon. Tobacco, darkness, rough and tumble weathered psyche. This wine brings you that much closer to feeling that death spiral, though you realize your biological levity will intervene. Others aren’t so lucky. This wine is a toast to someone who could not conquer darkness himself, but nurtured his inner darkness to bend the rest of us toward the light. May you finally feel at home, restless wanderer. — 6 years ago

DuBrul Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

Well I had a review of this fantastic wine right after the update, and apparently didn't save it, as I was unused to the GUI. So here goes from memory: this is a beauty, with such depth, breadth, and complexity, that I will only touch on the highlights which subsequently have burned themselves into my psyche. This is pure espresso, mocha, blackberry cobbler, black cherry and black currant without being jammy. It is layered with toast, scorched earth notes, charred meat aromas, rosemary, a touch of mint. Violets and black roses, balanced acidity lifting the weight of its complexity on atlas like shoulders of absolutely sensuous perfect and satiny tannins. Tobacco, white pepper, nutmeg and much much more! If you can find it, grab it at any cost! It is just now hitting its stride, and it's 'certainly not showing any signs that it is slowing'. Trip down a chocolate river anyone? — 10 years ago
