Dancing Bear Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2014

Same comments. Brooding wine tonight. Maybe with some air will start to sing. Nevertheless, nice ripe fruit, red and black. Earthy. Grippy tannins. Medium minis finish. — a year ago

Harap Alb Cabernet Sauvignon Feteasca Neagră

Wine #2 Vinul Moldovei Vol. 1.

This wine is named after the protagonist of the Story of Harap Alb. And what a fitting name it is! White Moor, white made from black grapes (Cabernet Sauvignon and Fetească Neagră). Almost colourless, it offers charming (hehe, Făt-Frumos) notes of melon, pear candy, wet stones and green apples. Not overly complex, but delicate, well-balanced and mineral. It's fresh with gentle and well-integrated oak (2 months with bâtonnage).

Not sure if it makes sense to age it, but it's a wonderful choice for a hot summer evening or to pair with oysters.

Minis Cadarca 2011

On the nose new oak aromas: vanilla, smoked wood, wet leaves. On the palate, ripe sour cherries. Balanced, smooth pleasant tannins, medium body, medium (+) acidity. Perfect with white meat or cheese, or even stand alone. Can benefit from a bit of ageing, but happy to drink now as well :) — 9 years ago

Roșu Împărat Fetească Neagră Blend

Wine #5 on Vinul Moldovei Vol. 1.

At last, a bottle of Red Emperor (from the Story of Harap Alb) is in my hands. And not just a regular bottle, but the 2019 vintage specifically! And it's beautiful. Red currant, red flowers, plums, leather, mint and chocolate. It is complex, multilayered and almost perfectly balanced. Almost full-bodied yet relatively delicate despite 14.9 abv. Charismatic and polished.

Geisberg Grand Cru Riesling 1998

1998 vintage. In magnum. Medium golden hue. I feared some oxidation from the colour but was pleasantly surprised by the nose - very Riesling like: cirrus and camphor oil, floral in nature. On the palate, very high acidity edging to tartness. Peach and apricot with air, medium minis alcohol. Decent length. Not bad at all and with air the wine improved. Drink now. Not meant for further ageing. — 7 years ago
