I like the olive-oily butter aspect with pear flavors. — 8 years ago
This is from the last vintage of the original Veedercrest Cabernets, I believe 1984. When the winery decided to close down, some friends and I went together and bought a barrel, which we bottled by hand at the winery just before it was turned over to Rosenblum cellars. Still lively, one of those legendary 80's cabs that belies its chronological age, Last bottle! — 8 years ago
Deep bramble, charcoal, smoke and hints of mesquite on the pallet. Superb nose reminiscent of a fine scotch. Flavor forward silky mouthfeel without Cali stereotypical tannins. Sparred successfully with steak and Alfredo. Recommended. Will see if Delectable gets it right...this is the St. Helena Cab. — 7 years ago
12.5% alc.
Merlot (+ 18% CS)
Not a Cab and probably not bottled in time for the 1976 Paris Tasting one could have hoped Steven Spurrier would have included this (rather than their 1972 Chardonnay coming in ninth of the 10 whites rated).
At age 42 this was showing FANTASTIC tonight!

I don’t usually drink Napa reds, but this makes me see the appeal. Rich red fruit, leather, cigar smoke, super well integrated and with a long finish that has hints of an aged port. It’s definitely a bit of a stodgy masculine vibe but enjoyable, like an English manor house library. — 4 years ago
