Waxy with bruised red apple and Anjou pear with a smidge of honey. Palate shows supple apple fruit with a spiced waxy touch. This was a delightful surprise. — 3 years ago

Black and red cherry fruit mix with a touch of oak spice along with a loamy, mineral accent. Nice Pinot fruit in the palate but missing a touch of texture with leanish tannins. I bit dusty in the finish. Enjoyable but lacks a bit of charm and dimension. Doesn’t appear to be any huge upside to much more cellar time. — 3 years ago

Dark fruit tones of plum, blackberry and black current that are dominated by the mineral, granite and soy aromas. The most mineral dominated young L’Ermitage I have tasted. Palate has nice flesh with firm mineral driven tannins and lifting acidity. Berry and cassis fruit on palate is muted but there are graphite, all spice and floral accents giving the wine real depth. This is a finely balance wine but not certainly not open for business. I believe this need the better part of 5 to 7 more years in the cellar. — 3 years ago

Mature Nebbiolo color. Starts out a bit oxidized with dried cherry and cranberry fruit but freshens with air. After an hour the fruit is derived cherry, cassis and cranberry with notes of violets, roses and warm tar. Palate has dried red fruit notes and balsamic and allspice accents with slightly coarse and drying tannins. Acidity gives lift and really re-enforces the red fruit and spice driven finish. I think this is just past peak drinking but still holds your interest over a few hours. — 3 years ago

High toned floral, allspice, cardamom and a hint of creamy oak mingle with black cherry, pomegranate and plum fruit. The spice level is fabulous. The palate is round with supple tannins missing just a touch of lift due to the vintage. Fruit tones of black and red cherry play with a dynamite touch of tar and mineral accents. Finish showcases more spice and red fruit character. This is entering a great phase for drinking now and over the next 7 years. — 3 years ago

Enticing fruit tones of yellow peach, gala apple and tangerine with graphite and petrol accents. Noise is quite vibrant. Palate has lots of petrol and mineral flavors with lemon curd, Granny Smith apple and apricot fruit. A touch of rs adds roundness on the palate. Finish is full of stone, mineral and graphite. While not the last word in depth it is a joy to drink. Appears to be at its peak but should be enjoyable over the next 3 or 4 years. — 3 years ago

Fullish nose with Bosc pear, tangerine fruit and a smoky mineral accent. Palate is a touch soft to start with a hint of RS that mingles with orange peel, quince and hints of smoke. Lovely depth on the finish. Fully ready to drink with no appreciable upside. 375ml — 3 years ago

Bright fruit with black cherry, strawberry and plum fruit wrapped with supple notes of thyme, mint and a subtle mineral touch. Nose is far fresher than the vintage conditions would suggest. Rich and full palate with dark red fruits, spice and dried herds. The tannins are silky and round. It is missing a touch of Sangiovese austerity but a delight to drink. Finish is full of ripe raspberry fruit and herbs. My last bottle but this is in a lovely zone for maximum enjoyment. — 3 years ago

Not quite as good as my last bottle in 2019. Lots of red cherry, strawberry and pomegranate fruit accented with deft touch of oak and just a hint of sous bois. A touch compact at opening but develops nicely wine air. Bright red fruit tones on the palate with brown spice, baked stones and a bit of dried earth. Quite fresh with good extract that plays nicely with the tannins. Finish of red fruit and Corton minerality. This bottle is missing a level of focus and depth that would really elevate the palate.
Drinking well now with potential for more developed. Certain to be enjoyable over the next 5 to 7 years.
