High toned floral, allspice, cardamom and a hint of creamy oak mingle with black cherry, pomegranate and plum fruit. The spice level is fabulous. The palate is round with supple tannins missing just a touch of lift due to the vintage. Fruit tones of black and red cherry play with a dynamite touch of tar and mineral accents. Finish showcases more spice and red fruit character. This is entering a great phase for drinking now and over the next 7 years.

this wine is powerful, rich, great structure, fruit, and balance but definitely too young for my tastes. for me this needs another 10 years to soften. was debating if i should even open this and definitely regret it. oh well

This is better today than it was two days ago, when first opened. Promising then, but impenetrable and showing some wood toast on the veneer. That's gone now. It's still a structured vortex of a wine, so tight it's practically turned itself inside out, but the flavors have gotten more expressive even with that forbidding structure. It's got a nice mix of apply orchard fruit with pleasantly bitter blackberry putting it in a much deeper, blacker pitch, which together with some gravelly minerality hints at the tarry flavors that'll come out in a few years.

Fruity and approachable but with all the old world charm of Nebbiolo

Excellent - cherry strawberry bitter almond nose. Supple smooth tannins (2011 tasted 2015), lingering cherry finish. No oak aromas. Properly sour.
