Drinking brilliant- prickly lively key lime creamy acidity. Drier apricot marmalade notes. Fabulous wine. — 2 years ago
Dog Point Vineyard combines experience of Ivan and Margaret Sutherland & James and Wendy Healy. Ivan and James met while working at Cloudy Bay Vineyards. Light straw with typical SB aromas with some floral mineral notes. On the palate flavors of melon and grapefruit citrus with honeysuckle notes, lively acidity, nice mouthfeel with long finish ending with a salty spice character. Exceptional wine! Drink ‘19 now! — 2 years ago
Had a slightly oxidative note of bitter almond suffused with nougat and brioche. Some green and red apple notes, and a bit of peach as it opened but it was definitely saline and oyster-shell and zingy. A really nice nose that seemed as half Chablis, half Champagne. Taut, lacking some of the mid palate weight, and precise to a fault, this was almost too much to drink on its own and a better food wine (unfortunately, we had an early pizza dinner with the kids, opened the bottle after, and all I’ve been eating is Cadbury Mini-Eggs for the last hour). — 7 years ago
Friday wine. This was a easy choice for National Women’s History month. An iconic winemaker. A true trailblazer. Exceptional wines. An endless amount of superlatives that can go with Cathy Corison. Her wines are described as having both elegance and power.
2013 Corison Cabernet was perfection in my glass last night. Winemaker notes describe the wine as having aromas and flavors tend toward the dark end of the Cabernet fruit spectrum with blueberries, black cherries, blackberries and dark plums all singing in close harmony. Complexing notes include tobacco, baking spices, chocolate, and savory herbs including sage, thyme and basil. Floral notes of violets and rose petals play with a notable stony minerality in the aromas and long finish. 13.5%ABV. I described this wine as being both elegant and stunning.
Grateful for the women who busted through those glass ceilings. Grateful for the trailblazers. — 2 years ago
This wine came wearing a fur stole fastened with a gemstone button, thereby making it the fanciest bottle of wine I'd ever seen. It was an engagement present intended to be opened at a special time, but instead we drank it immediately over takeout pasta and Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs. I'm not sorry. The wine was delicious. Transcendent. Drinking it was the occasion. — 10 years ago
