The 2017 Chardonnay Reserve is an intriguing wine. For a vintage that was so torrid, the Reserve remains very much light on its feet. Tangerine oil, hazelnut, passionfruit, chamomile, butter, baked apple tart and pastry lend quite a bit of nuance. There's good freshness and plenty of complexity. Time brings out the wine's textural richness and exotic flair. The 2017 spent ten months in oak and then a year in tank prior to being bottled. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2022)

The 2019 Lytton Springs is another embryonic wine in this range. Readers will have to be patient. Time in the glass brings out an exotic mélange of rose petal, blood orange, pomegranate and star anise, all wrapped together by plush, silky tannins. There is a lot of wine here. Healthy dollops of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignane and Mataro round out the blend, but the Zinfandel is pretty expressive in the leading role. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2022)

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is going to need a number of years to come around. The only question is how many. In 2017, the Mount Eden Cabernet is shockingly opulent. Inky black fruit, bittersweet chocolate, spice, leather and incense are all dialed up in this super-sized Cabernet. Even so, there is plenty of structure lurking beneath. I can't wait to see how this ages. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2022)

The 2018 Pinot Noir is positively stellar. Bright, aromatic and deep, the 2018 is marvelously complete. Sweet red cherry, cinnamon, blood orange and mint all grace this flavorful, mid-weight Pinot. The 2018 is so nicely done. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2022)

The 2019 Three Valleys is a supple, easygoing Zinfandel-based red to drink now and over the next few years, while the flavors remain bright and punchy. Bright floral accents perk up the red Zinfandel fruit nicely. The Three Valleys will make a great house pour. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2022)

Mount Eden's 2018 Chardonnay offers a fabulous interplay of richness and energy. A wine of linear intensity, the 2018 could use a few more years in bottle to be at its best, but it is super-impressive, even now, in what is very clearly the early going. Lemon confit, mint, orange peel, spice and light butter notes all build into the articulate, polished finish. This is such a classy wine. Give it a few years to come together. The 2018 Chardonnay is such a gorgeous wine. Apricot, tangerine oil, butter, spice and a touch of reduction give the 2018 a decidedly exotic flair, but then the Santa Cruz Mountains minerality kicks in to frame things beautifully. Rich, textured and vibrant in the glass, the 2018 is a terrific wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2022)

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate offers a hugely appealing mix of fruit richness married to the savory, structured style that is the Ridge signature. The 2019 is beautifully exotic, but natural without the volume of the Monte Bello. I imagine it will drink splendidly with minimal cellaring. Succulent red cherry, blood orange, mint, cinnamon and pomegranate. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2022)
