The 2017 Chardonnay Reserve is an intriguing wine. For a vintage that was so torrid, the Reserve remains very much light on its feet. Tangerine oil, hazelnut, passionfruit, chamomile, butter, baked apple tart and pastry lend quite a bit of nuance. There's good freshness and plenty of complexity. Time brings out the wine's textural richness and exotic flair. The 2017 spent ten months in oak and then a year in tank prior to being bottled. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2022)

2017 vintage. Mount Eden Vineyards wine dinner @Mister A’s Restaurant-San Diego. Orange oil, crème brûlée and pear in the nose. Some overripe, red delicious apple joins in with those impressions on the flavor side of things. Heavy body and somewhat unctuous. Just enough acidity to maintain order and stay out of Flabbytown. 4.20.23.

2017 vintage. Oooh that nose. Browned butter and herbs and oak and dill. Hot damn. Gimme scallops or Dover sole for a perfect pairing. Heavy body. Generous oak. Just enough acidity. Color is impressively yellowed. A showstopper with attitude. Woof. Comparably priced White Burg? Haha like 4x price wise.
