With a heavenly dark, perfumed aroma, this Domaine de Chevalier 2011 is a superb Graves from a lesser appreciated vintage.

Lots of cedar, cigar box and roast coffee notes on the palate. Really fruit forward, with blackcurrant, cassis and steeped plum, and an undercurrent of gentle acidity that carries through to a vanilla laced finish. There is a flash of green pepper. Tannins are quite supple and the wine is relatively light as a whole (in Bordeaux terms, that is) - in a great spot now but could easily go another 5-10 years (but why wait?). — 4 years ago

Imagine this will be much better in a few years, but still fun to try now. With a 3 hour decant, this is nice. But the tannins are a bit too present at this point. Sweet oak and dark red fruit on the nose. Some good minerality but I think the elegance will come with time. Nice with grilled chicken. — 4 years ago

Pretty perfume. A garden of roses in full bloom. A hike in spring in full foliage.

Described as everyday drinking wine to me by Ian at Some Good Wine, I’d say this is a notch higher than that descriptor.
