With a heavenly dark, perfumed aroma, this Domaine de Chevalier 2011 is a superb Graves from a lesser appreciated vintage.
Lots of cedar, cigar box and roast coffee notes on the palate. Really fruit forward, with blackcurrant, cassis and steeped plum, and an undercurrent of gentle acidity that carries through to a vanilla laced finish. There is a flash of green pepper. Tannins are quite supple and the wine is relatively light as a whole (in Bordeaux terms, that is) - in a great spot now but could easily go another 5-10 years (but why wait?).

Boca wine dinner and the Col. brings this. Hint of Bordeaux funk. Reminiscent of an 86’ Lynch Bages, if Mom put an ice cube in the glass... Drinkable, but I preferred the Quilceda Creek vertical tastings and big Napa Cabs...

Deep garnet red. Intense nose of fruits, leather and licorice. Rich on the palate with good tannins. Grapes: 65% Cabernet, 30% Merlot, 5%. The wine is ready to drink and should keep well for years ahead. Hand-picked grapes. Barrel aged 16-20 months (35% new oak), bâtonnage 4 months. Domaine de Chevalier classified Grand Cru Classé de Graves. Belongs to Bernard Family (#1 in in France on the spirits market) since 1983. Pessac-Leognan is important Bordeaux red and dry white wine appellation.

Big, strong red. Would be good with a fatty steak. Would be better if we had waited a little longer to drink but it was still enjoyable.
