This is a serious wine but it took a while to reach this decision-2 days of breathing in a closed decanter. 2012 Cape Mentelle Cabernet 2012 (AUD 91); 91% cabernet with drizzles of franc, merlot, verdot. Screwcaps do strange things: in this case tighten the wine up to be un-expressive; was lovely fruit, balanced ripeness and oak fruition; just so simple without tannin dryness opened fresh. On breathing a little oxidation (that word!) teased out the dryness and weight 14.5%; #margaretriver#structure#drinkearly ; clearly sold to drink now, future aging is of interest?? — 10 years ago
