Everything I expect in a D&R wine but more: this took a full day and a half to come around, very closed initially. There is a slightly gray-ish tinge to the light purple color - like antique violet. The nose has only a bare touch of funk but a definite earthiness, with tar and subtle wet leaves framing sweet plum and mulberry. The feel is light but the tannic frame is definite and this will need a few years or, like I did, a few days open to really strut its stuff. The finish lingers with something both fruity and floral. I like old Bandol, but find many of them more than a bit rustic. This is like taking Tempier and filtering through a Burgundian sensibility with a kiss of sunshine. Great work. #hardywallace — 8 years ago
