Brilliant purple color, silky body with a velvety finish. Very nice, threw a ton of sediment though.

Sipping Fine Wine

Achaval-Ferrer is a team of friends who dream about great wines and also a collection of old vineyards. Very Dark red with aromas of juicy black fruit, smoky and spicy, a blend of three vineyards from Medrano, one from Lujan, one from Gualtallary (the highest altitude) and one from La Consulta in the Uco Valley. On the palate currant and black fruit flavors with an initial jolt of spices which calmed down after 30 minutes. Fine tannins, nice balance endind with smoky mineral tones.

Overripe black Cherry, raisins, fresh cut Violet's, and that always present wet dirt component I have decided to call "Mendoza Mud." Nicely oaked but not overpowering.

Highly impressed by this new world beauty. Easily thrown into the Northern Rhône. So savory and herbaceous but that ripeness that makes you lick your chops!
