Adega Familiar Eladio Piñeiro
Envidia Cochina Rías Baixas Albariño
Rías Baixas, Galicia, Spain

This wine makes me think of golden apples and Anjou pears. Medium body, crisp acidity and long lasting finish. :)

Jan 17th, 2016Aside from the curious albeit intriguing story about the "Poisonous Worm of Envy" that graces the front label (is a reference to poison on a beverage label ever a good thing?), the 2013 Eladio Piñeiro Envidia Cochina is a plunge into a world of grassy olive oil, fresh herbs, saline and brine, interlaced with lemon pith and lemon zest. Prickly, taught acidity comingles with mouth-coating chalk, in this medium-bodied, lively, decidedly different Albariño.
