Alpine Roots
Valais Humagne Rouge
Clear dark ruby garnet. Abundant nose of black cranberry and rose. Medium-bodied palate confirms the nose with a slightly herbal note mid-palate to finish, which adds a slight mintyness on the finish. Medium acidity; not quite as much as one might expect from a colder inland region. Light tannins which show after some time. A nicely herby alternative to Pinot Noir. Drink now.

Dec 16th, 2020This alpine red had both smoothness and softness, but was not as light as I was expecting (in both color and body). Aromas and flavors of red fruits, cinnamon, and vanilla defined this Swiss beauty, even if they weren't as lively as I had hoped. 100% Humagne Rouge. 1/6/23.
