Well, I was in my store of choice two days ago and had no intention on buying anything, just to browse. After a few minutes of looking through the U.S. Pinot's, then the Bordeaux, the Italians, Australia/New Zealand, I found myself in the South American section. I looked through Argentina and started on Chile. I didn't have any Chilean wine so I ended up leaving with four Pinot's from Chile. Very inexpensive and thought what the heck let's give this a whirl. This nose at first whiff is "Funky". I had to take several smells before I found cherries, raspberry, clove, vanilla and some cola. On the palate are nice sour cherries, red raspberry, mushroom, a medium low tannin, and medium acidity. Not a terrible pinot noir that I bought for $9.99.

Rustic and dirty when first opened. Decanted and let open overnight. Next day it was an enjoyable Pinot with nice dark soil terroir, cranberry juice, some oak tannin as well. $10? Sure!

Big and bright bouquet of fresh cranberries, nutmeg, cloves, and peppercorn, mushrooms, and brambles. Spritzy with fresh strawberries, currants, white pepper, and cinnamon. Minimal mid-palate with hints of red pepper and cherries, but prominent oak and heat on the short finish.
