2016 Jackalope Wine Cellars Rosè - Freshly-picked rose petals, strawberries, and nectarines come through on the nose. Bright and spritzy on the entry, ripe grapefruit and early-season strawberries giving way to ripe bing cherries with a touch of bubble gum. Lovely! Straddles serious and fun. — 7 years ago
The '14 Guadalupe has a bit of mystique to it. The nose is intriguing, with a mix of fresh fir boughs and eucalyptus leaves wafting from the glass, with hints of mint, spice cake, and cherry kirsch. Dark cherries and blackberries lithely glide onto the palate, with hints of candied orange peel and black licorice unfolding into a spicy finish. Pretty and intriguing. — 7 years ago
Sometimes, when you had a long day at work, you just want something that is happy to see you. This gorgeous wine is so perfumey and dynamic on the nose, changing from spicy potpourri one moment to floral the next to fresh, dark cherries to umami and fresh mushrooms. Both rich and powerful yet elegant, cranberries and fresh blackberries gush on the palate, pulling back into pomegranates and dark cocoa, and finally finishing in fresh oyster mushrooms and wet, meadows. Fine powdery tannins and a long acid backbone. Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. A gem in the glass. — 7 years ago
Spicy caramel and cherries on the nose, with ripe, luscious cherries and dates flooding the palate with a lift of lingering acidity. Such a baby, such potential. — 7 years ago
To be honest, if this was placed in a blind-tasting, I can see it being mistaken for a Burgundy. The nose is a savory herb garden intermingling with crushed violets, peppered with spice and cedar. Soft and lithe on the entry with a focused arrow of acidity on the backend, Hyland glides onto the palate with fresh cranberries, orange peel, and pomegranates and finishes in fresh mushrooms and peppercorn. The tannins unfold from powdery into a sexy swash. Pretty and cellar-worthy. — 7 years ago
Dark, red cherries and ink on the nose, with hints of pink peppercorn and crushed violets. Cherries and plums greet the palate, giving way to shiitake mushrooms and mesquite. Nice. — 7 years ago
Stank-ay! Screams cheese. Once stench blows off, Hermiston melon and thyme comes forth. Bright and funky on the palate, ripe nectarines and fresh mushrooms dance together on a bright palate. — 7 years ago
Spice cake, dark cherries, and blackberries waif from the glass. Powers through onto the palate, unfolding into dark, smooth chocolate and fresh Calimyrna figs, finishing into spice, ripe pomegranates, and fresh dates. A dark wine and certainly meant to drink now. — 7 years ago
You say why, and I say "Why not?" This pinkies down sparkling needs to be poured from the can, otherwise you might as well be drinking Coor's Light. Lovely, bright citrus and floral notes on the nose. Bright and bone-dry on the palate. Simple but fun. — 8 years ago
