Picked this up when all the Avensole Winery wines ended up at grocery outlet. Meh label, but that is superfluous since the winery folded. Lovely color. Violets and roses in the glass. Aroma is funky. Hint of matches. Just a slight barnyard in there too. Butterscotch and berries? Is that a thing lol. Flavors are lovely and on point for fine Syrah. Berries, rocks, wild mushrooms, and pork. Tannins are pucker-y and perfect. Hint of smoke and some black olives. Dense and complex. This is excellent Syrah. Hope the new owners can make a similar quality vino. I’ll go by next time I pass by Temecula.
