The 2004 Avignonesi Montepulciano Riserva Grandi Annate opens with aromas of sweet fruit, mostly black cherry and plum, along with notes of dried roses and clayey soil. Garnet-robed with a watery rim, it's medium-bodied with fine tannins and a core of sweet fruit, almost entirely dominated by black cherry. Whole not overly complicated, it's a pleasure to drink. Finishes with sweet tobacco.
