Black current, black cherry, plum, leather, gingerbread. Shoe polish @Matt Wilson definitely there now. Even more interesting on the palate. It's dry but kind of like somebody sprinkled it with sugar, just enough to draw out the fruitiness. The tannins are high and so is the acidity and the finish takes it's time. This wine knows what's it got and is flaunting the shit out of it.

Aug 7th, 2014'10. Maldafrica was inspired by an early '80s visit by COS cofounder to Haut-Brion. A truly different 50-50 Cab-Merlot with the house style that crosses elegance with a good kind of rusticity. Giusto Occhipinti (above) was also a phenomenal host and the best kind of Bon Vivant. Seek him out, as the COS story is as inspirational as this very, very yummy and distinctive wine. Like Gulfi, making Sicily among the hotbeds of cool new wines in Europe. COS winemaker's tasting @noragrey. Kudos to Theo and Oenopole!
