Baronne Philippine de Rothschild
Pastourelle de Clerc Milon Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend
Just getting to this after being open since 6/21. Great ‘10 acidity. Not a ton of complexity.

Jun 24th, 2019Classic Bordeaux profile with dried fruits and dried earth and faint cigarbox. Actually tasting quite delicious now but has many years to go!

May 4th, 2019I guess I'm comparing age versus pedigree here within the Clerc Milon family.
It opened wrapped up in a knot. Off putting initial aromas. Deep dark just like it's rich younger sibling. Just beginning to brown at the rim. 30 min in it's starting to relax...
Soil. Licorice and something savory on the nose-- almost like a chicken stock. Alcohol infused chocolate on the palate with more earthiness. After 2 hours, I believe there may be more room to open or maybe it's wishful thinking because it all ends rather muddy and bitter..
In the end, I believe this wine is past peak. Probably by a couple or 3 years. It's still interesting and would pair ok with big red meats, but don't count on it too much longer. It's not a stand up 2010.

Inky dark in color. The nose is barnyard funk and dark fruit. The palate features lush dark cherry, french oak, strawberry, cinnamon, and rhubarb. Moderate plus acid in the finish with commensurate chewy tannins. Well balance from start to finish, this is a good value right bank wine from a fabulous vintage. Oui oui.

Jul 28th, 2019Christmas wine served with tenderloin steak. Reminds me how great Bordeaux can be if you spend a few extra $$$. Delicious and memorable.
