This 02 BVT is in a good place but I wouldn't wait a lot longer on it. It has another 3-5 years before it starts to disappoint. Nicely resolved black & cherry fruits that are ripe and juicy. Followed by ripe raspberries, strawberries & raisin. Still has a dusty tannin structure. There's cherry cola, plum, soft spices, nicely soften baking spices, underbrush, worn leather, black tea, some licorice, dry red rose petals, dusty dry minerals, and high acidity. The balance of fruit & earth is just about right. Good tension, length and structure that is still but just holding it's own. The long finish brings on a dark fruit, caramel and a mocha powdery liqueur quality. It's not the 96's I've had lately but none the less still very nice.

This one was a real surprise. I lost track of this wine until I did a complete inventory over the past week. Many said this would be well past it’s time but I disagree. This drinks like an incredibly well aged left bank Bordeaux. Just sorry I do not have any more but it was purchased when I was an Assistant Professor.

Let me start by saying I love BV's Tapestry. Unfortunately this bottle was either past its prime or, more likely, improperly stored before I purchased it. Lots of sediment (and a broken cork) led me to filter and decant the bottle. The driving force was raisiny/old grapes with the with the more pleasant features usually associated with this wine pushed to the background. Still drinkable, but not all that enjoyable.
