High Mountain Vines Mendoza Malbec

Displaying bright cherry, hints of pepper, herbs, crushed stone and smoke on the nose. On the palate, I found crisp red fruit with herbal hints and medium body on an acid driven frame. The finish displayed darker fruits with floral hints and staying minerality. A tremendous display on the nose with a good, food-friendly performance on the palate. Excellent value.

This 100% Malbec is light ruby /purple in color with a white rim.
Medium to full bodied.
Faint on the nose, with blueberries, violets, blackberries and currants.
Soft on the palate with blueberries, blackberries, cherries,spices and black pepper.
Short finish with little tannings and pepper.
Aged for 12 months in mostly French oak.
WS 90 WE 91.
Good yet Ordinary .
Needs to age a bit to get more out of it.

Tried this as part of Claire‘s blind taste test night. I thought it smelled of berries, a little floral, and a little spicy like clove. I thought it was jammy, the color was dark and thick, not transparent. I thought it was not very acidic, had a medium full body, a smooth mouth feel, and mid-range, we’ll-integrated tannins. The finish seemed balanced to me.
