On this Friday I am trying a wine I never tried before Albariño. There has been a lot of hoopla over this wine that I have seen and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I picked up a couple bottles today. This particular bottle was $13.99. On the nose I get almond paste, golden delicious apples, white peach and citrus notes. At first taste on the palate I can taste peach, apples, a good minerality, light acidity and blue stone on the finish. A bit on the weaker side and from what I have read and heard there should be a ripping acidity which this does not. It does have a good mouth feel but lacking in the areas I have mentioned. Not a total loss but I will have to try another and hold my total view until I have more background.
