This is not a Ribera del Duero (that’s Tempranillo territory and I’m not a Tempranillo guy). This is Ribera del Jiloca, and this is a relatively structured Garnacha. Nose is a bit reticent at first but then reluctantly gives up pure raspberry and tons of crushed rock powder. In the mouth it’s lean but flavorful, with stony flavors and fruit in equal measure. Acids and fine-grained chalky tannins to frame everything. Nice, length, and a really good weeknight value.
