Bodegas Valdesil
Valderroa Valdeorras Mencía
Explosively mineral from the steep, black slate soils. Hard to believe this wine doesn't see any oak. Intense stuff.

Nov 19th, 2014Great value! Balanced, layered flavors, complex. Would buy a six pack in a heart beat. And I just might.

Jan 28th, 2014Very nice red from the Mencia grape.
No hard edges and really a sniffer!

It had a little more body than what I was looking for at the time, and a bit more fruit forward but it's a good wine

Apr 16th, 2016Well rounded. Light with a nice body at the same time. Nice effervescence. Non drying/headache inducing.

Mar 10th, 2015Great value, gamay-like, effervescent red wine, which pairs crazy well with oysters on the half-shell. I think this wine will blow away those who never tried similar stuff, as it is definitely out of the main stream. I am stoked by the earthy nose and deeper mouth roundness post effervescent first blush, given its oakless process. A red that works in a normally white environment! I am at Haven, in Tampa x3 (plenty to try there so GO!) sporting the best oysters since Terrapins, VA Bch. Cheers!
