Donnafugata is one of Sicily's top wineries and this is one of their top wines. It's a big blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and the island's
indigenous Nero d'Avola. The blend also contains an interesting grape called Tannat that is originally from the South West French region of Madiran but has taken hold in Uruguay in recent years. The 2011 vintage was awarded Tre Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso. — 9 years ago
Pretty rad. Was way to drunk to remember much more than that. — 9 years ago
2014 vintage. Drinking well but not nearly as good as the 2013 is drinking right now. Minuscule benchmark producer of Fiano farming organically. Imported by Marco de Grazia. — 9 years ago
The 2011 spent 40 months on the lees. Open the day before you want to drink it or hold it. I have some for sale at craftcurd.com as of 2/28/16. — 9 years ago
Solid Greco. Small producer. Their vineyard sits near abandoned sulphur mine which I'm told adds "wonderful mineral notes". Umm ok, guess that's cool. — 9 years ago
Named after historic Etna eruption which lasted ten years. Vineyard is in the path of centuries old lava flow. — 9 years ago
Comte Lafon is considered one of the top producers of Burgundy with most of their bottles selling for triple digits and four digits for their top wines. In the late nineties they ventured out of Burgundy proper (the Cote d'Or) and also setup shop in the southern Burgundy region of the Maconnais by purchasing a domaine there. The focus of the domaine is Chardonnay and they have bottlings from many different villages and vineyards. The vines are farmed Biodynamically (a practice that goes far beyond organic) and most of their wines see a limited amount of oak in order to let the vines express themselves. These are some of the best values you will find in white Burgundy and Chardonnay in general. Ever bottle I've tasted from them so far has been laced with beautiful minerality. — 9 years ago
Holy shit. Yes it smells like horse shit. And other nice aromas. — 9 years ago
