Bodegas y Viñedos La Senda
1984 Bierzo Mencía
Some fun post-work bottles with a dear friend, in the wine trades. No formal notes.
Delicious-ness after about 30m.

This is a natural, unfiltered wine that although produced within the DO Bierzo region, falls out of the rules of production, so it ends up with the IGT clssification. Dried flowers, blueberries, and smokey vanilla on the nose, continued floral aspects on the palate as well as fresh cherries and moist earth. Quite nice, more minerality than I expected and smooth as silk tannins. Medium finish. Price/quality relation is amazing, €15 the whole bottle at the bar in Madrid

Sep 30th, 2019Slightly funky when first opened, gave way to pretty floral notes after giving it time to open up. Dried strawberry, cherries, a touch of blue fruit mixed with dried herbs and a hint of game.
Worked well with both roasted chicken with romesco and pizza.
