B.R. Cohn
Olive Hill Estate Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon
More than one “wow” in Calistoga tonight... open house with Four Seasons Napa Valley followed by a stunning meal at All Seasons with the 1985 BR Cohn Olive Hill made by Helen Turley.
33 years and it’s probably at its peak. Extraordinarily powerful aromatics of dried currant, truffle, forest floor... but everything translates through to the palate in a super mellow and smooth AF style. Distinctively Northern California while still evoking aged left bank Bordeaux. Stunning.

Somewhat herbal with some faint mushroom notes, solid fruit, last bottle I have, but ideally I should have finished this 5-10 years ago, but still nicely balanced. (While drinking this, I’m humming China Grove by the Doobies!!)

Dec 18th, 2021Mature dark fruits and faint herbal notes, still showing some structure with drying tannins, mature, needs food, very well-made 35-year-old CA Cab!

Jan 26th, 2020Good call@Isaac Pirolo,
I don’t venture into the 80’s to often, but for $75.00 it was worth a try plus it gave me an excuse to use the Durand again even though it really didn’t need it.
Reminds me of this one night in Bangkok,

Reminds me of this one night in Bangkok,
Still quite youthful and fresh, still deep fruit, nicely balanced, a very nice older CA Cab!
